Being Justified by Faith or Works?

Two Sundays ago Mr. Brown talked about Galatians 2:14-20.

Man is always looking for ways to please other men and to have favor in man's eyes. We should seek to find favor in God's eyes not mans. When we do that we will find favor in mans eyes too.
Man cannot be justified by works even if you are the best person on earth you cannot be justified by that! You can only be justified by believing in Christ and obeying what the Bible tells us to do.

"Let go and let God" is a misinterpretation of verse 16. But wilt thou know, o vain man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2:20). You can't just trust God for something and do nothing! It is like a man looking for a job; he asks God for a job and he has faith that God will give him a job, so then he sits in his house trusting God that he will give him a job and meanwhile do nothing. THAT'S JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! The man needs to trust God to help him search for a job. Then the man has to go out and look for a job and apply where he can.

Now a last comment about the main topic...Faith. Faith is abandoning all your faith in things of this world and putting your faith only in God.
